The Council
In May 2023, 7 residents stood at the Parish Council Election for the 7 vacancies to form the Assington Parish Council for a period of 4 years.
The Councillors, who undertake their duties voluntarily, are supported by the Parish Clerk.
Meetings are held in the Village Hall at 7pm on the last Monday of January, March, May, July, September and November. Comments and questions from the community are welcome either by email to the clerk or in person during the Public Forum at any meeting. If any member of the public would like to attend then please do, you will be very welcome contact the clerk.

Code of Conduct
In accordance to the Localism Act 2011 ss 26 to 37, Assington Parish Council at its meeting on 26th September 2022 adopted the Suffolk Local Code of Conduct. You can view a copy of the Councillors' Register of Interests HERE or Babergh District Council's, the code is reviewed annually.
Meetings
Parish Council meetings are normally held on the last Monday of alternate months starting in January. All Assington residents are invited and encouraged to attend the meetings, with a Public Forum at the start of each meeting. The Parish Council meetings are held in Assington Village Hall, start at 7pm and normally finish by 9pm. The draft minutes of Assington Parish Council meetings are published on this website within 2 weeks of the meeting being held and Notes from the meeting are published in the Assington Magazine.

Councillors Stacey and Howcroft are the appointed members of the HR Committee.and the Standards Committee
Councillor Wiles is APC's representative on Assington Village Charity
Councillor Stacey is the APC's representatives to the Suffolk Association of Local Councils.
Councillors Hill and Howard review planning applications ahead of the APC meetings.
